Samenvatting

De menisci zijn twee halvemaanvormige kraakbeenschijven die zich tussen het femur en de tibia bevinden. De belangrijkste functie van de menisci is drukverdeling in het kniegewricht. Daarnaast zorgen de menisci voor een betere schokabsorptie en proprioceptie. Verder vermoedt men dat de menisci bijdragen aan een betere smering van het gewricht door het optimaliseren van vloeistofstromen (synovia) langs het gewrichtskraakbeen.1,2,3

Dit type collageen is vooral bedoeld om trekkrachten te weerstaan.8

De nn. articulares zijn de zenuwen die de innervatie van het kniegewricht verzorgen. Ze ontspringen vanuit de n. femoralis.

Sensitiviteit: de frequentie waarmee een positief testresultaat wordt gevonden wanneer een meniscuslaesie ook in werkelijkheid aanwezig is.Specificiteit: de frequentie waarmee een negatief testresultaat wordt gevonden wanneer een meniscuslaesie ook in werkelijkheid afwezig is.

De negatief voorspellende waarde is de kans dat een meniscuslaesie niet aanwezig is bij een negatieve uitslag van de MRI-scan.
