26 Veneuze trombo-embolie

Samenvatting

Bij veneuze trombo-embolie (VTE) is er sprake van een stolsel in een ader, meestal van een been (trombose), eventueel gevolgd door een stolsel in een slagader van de longen (embolie). Het stolsel belemmert de bloeddoorstroming in het betrokken bloedvat, met als belangrijke gevolgen ischemie in de long of oedeemvorming in het been.
