Samenvatting

  • Het betrekken van patiënten bij de patiëntenzorg kan verschillende doelen hebben, waaronder de implementatie van nieuwe werkwijzen en kwaliteitsverbetering in de klinische praktijk.
  • Patiëntgerichte implementatiestrategieën kunnen worden gericht op de beslissing om professionele hulp te zoeken, als voorbereiding op contacten met zorgverleners en op het moment dat de zorg is verleend.
  • Sommige strategieën voor implementatie via de patiënt zijn veelbelovend, met name de inzet van keuzehulpen om patiënten te betrekken bij beslissingen over screening, diagnostiek en behandeling.
  • Van andere strategieën is nog weinig bekend over de effecten op zorgprocessen en professioneel handelen. Wel verbeteren op een aantal terreinen patiëntgerelateerde uitkomsten, zoals de kennis en patiëntervaringen, en in enkele gevallen de gezondheidsstatus.
