Welke karakteristieken van chirurgische patiënten verklaren hun klinische zorgvraag aan zorgprofessionals?

Samenvatting

Door toenemende behandelmogelijkheden en vergrijzing van de bevolking stijgt het aantal patiënten met multimorbiditeit. Hierdoor zal in de komende jaren de zorgbehoefte – of zorgvraag – door deze complexe patiëntengroep waarschijnlijk flink toenemen.1) Ook op algemeen chirurgische verpleegafdelingen van academische ziekenhuizen is deze trend merkbaar. Door toegenomen behandelmogelijkheden zowel op chirurgisch als anesthesiologisch vlak worden steeds meer (oudere) multimorbide patiënten opgenomen en behandeld met gevolgen voor de totale zorgvraag. Het is dan ook van belang een meetinstrument te hebben voor de (verwachte) zorgvraag van deze patiënten aan zorgprofessionals, zoals medici, paramedici en verpleegkundigen.
