Voeding bij chronische longziekten

Abstract

Gewichtsverlies en spieratrofie zijn frequent voorkomende complicaties bij patiënten met COPD en zijn belangrijke factoren voor de kwaliteit van leven en de mortaliteit. Bij deze patiënten zijn er verschillende oorzaken voor een verminderde eetlust en voedselinname, een verhoogde energiestofwisseling en een verstoorde eiwitbalans. Voedingsinterventie is geïndiceerd voor klinisch stabiele patiënten met COPD en gewichtsverlies en voor gewichtsstabiele COPD-patiënten met spieratrofie, als onderdeel van een longrevalidatie- en/of leefstijlprogramma. De combinatie van beweging en voeding heeft bij deze patiënten namelijk gunstige effecten op de lichaamssamenstelling, de respiratoire en perifere skeletspierfunctie en op de inspanningscapaciteit.
