Kernpunten

Verminderd reukvermogen komt vaak voor op oudere leeftijd.
Verminderd reukvermogen oefent een negatieve invloed uit op de kwaliteit van leven.
Reukverlies kan een vroeg symptoom zijn van neurodegeneratieve ziekten, zoals de ziekte van Parkinson of van Alzheimer.
Hoewel er enige kennis is over de oorzaken van een verminderd reukvermogen, zijn er nog weinig behandelingsopties.
