32. Veneuze trombo-embolieën

Abstract

De veneuze trombo-embolie (longembolie en/of diepe veneuze trombose (DVT) van het been) is een veelvoorkomend ziektebeeld bij ouderen. De jaarlijkse incidentie van veneuze tromboembolie (VTE) stijgt sterk met de leeftijd van 1-2 per duizend (kinderen) naar 5-9 per duizend personen ouder dan 80 jaar.[1,2] Ook de kortetermijnmortaliteit ten gevolge van VTE stijgt met de leeftijd tot > 15% bij ouderen.[1,2] Longembolieën zijn de voornaamste niet door artsen verwachte doodsoorzaak bij ouderen.[3]
