Risicofactoren voor lage-rugklachten in het beroep

Samenvatting

Door middel van literatuuronderzoek zijn de belangrijkste risicofactoren voor lage-rugklachten in het beroep in kaart gebracht. Daarnaast is de relatieve sterkte van de verbanden tussen deze factoren en lage-rugklachten weergegeven in een risicomaat.
De fysieke factoren die verband houden met het optreden van lage-rugklachten zijn: handmatig lasten verplaatsen (vooral tillen), veelvuldig buigen en draaien met de romp, zware fysieke belasting en blootstelling aan lichaamstrillingen. Voor deze risicofactoren zijn belastingsniveaus aan te geven waarboven waarschijnlijk sprake is van een verhoogd risico: o.a. het regelmatig tillen van gewichten boven de 10 kg, dagelijks meer dan 15 keer tillen van 25 kg en lichaamstrillingen met een intensiteit >0,5 m/s2 over een periode >8 uur. Het verband tussen psychosociale risicofactoren en lage-rugklachten is minder duidelijk; resultaten van verschillende onderzoeken over dit onderwerp spreken elkaar tegen. Vooral een gebrek aan ontplooiingsmogelijkheden in het werk lijkt samen te hangen met het optreden van rugklachten.
Bij preventieve actie is het aan te bevelen van de genoemde vijf belangrijkste risicofactoren het belastingsniveau te bepalen evenals het deel van de beroepsgroep dat wordt blootgesteld aan elk van deze risicofactoren. Vervolgens kan een lijst met maatregelen worden opgesteld waarbij prioriteit gegeven wordt aan het opheffen van risicofactoren waaraan veel werknemers zijn blootgesteld en aan factoren met een hoog belastingsniveau. Door de uitgangssituatie (het vóórkomen van lage-rugklachten en daaraan gerelateerd verzuim) zorgvuldig vast te leggen is het effect van de preventieve maatregelen beter te kwantificeren.
