21. Preoperatief onderzoek

Inleiding

De gezondheidstoestand van iedere chirurgische patiënt moet voor de operatie beoordeeld worden door of namens de anesthesioloog volgens een vastgelegde werkwijze. Bij patiënten die een geplande ingreep zullen ondergaan, gebeurt dit meestal op een polikliniek voor preoperatieve screening. Dit hoofdstuk beschrijft de inhoud van het preoperatief onderzoek (anamnese, lichamelijk onderzoek en aanvullend onderzoek), manieren om risico’s op perioperatieve complicaties te schatten en de voorlichting over anesthesie die aan de patiënten moet worden gegeven. Eerst wordt ingegaan op de opbouw en inhoud van het anesthesiologisch dossier en de doelmatigheid van poliklinische preoperatieve screening.
