A little online training and get fit! That’s what it is starting to look like when you follow all the developments. In this issue university lecturer Paul Smits gives us a brief insight into e-learning for medicine students, and Odile Smeets describes a wide array of instruments for dealing with psychological complaints online. The article promises that internet offers people the opportunity of easy access to methods for working on their mental health: ‘There are e-mental health services available for strengthening mental capacity and combating work stress and a range of psychological complaints. The services have been developed for the complete sequence from prevention to treatment and after care; the stepped care e-mental health services.’ I would say: let’s keep an eye on the e-developments. Perhaps there is some additional value. The face to face consultation, genuine interest in the person, the medical issues with a psychosocial context and the assessment of the quality of work remain essential. …
