Samenvatting

Dit is een inleidend hoofdstuk over het onderwerp verwaarlozing. Aan de hand van een casus wordt geïllustreerd dat verwaarlozing bijna nooit op zichzelf staat en vaak samengaat met andere vormen van kindermishandeling. De verschillende definities en vormen verwaarlozing worden besproken, evenals de ernstige gevolgen van verwaarlozing. Verwaarlozing is de meest voorkomende vorm van kindermishandeling.
