Samenvatting

Jeuk kan soms erger zijn dan pijn. Zeker als de patiënt niet in staat is om te krabben. Aan de andere kant: krabben brengt slechts tijdelijke verlichting en kan tot huiddefecten en pijn leiden. Jeuk kent vele oorzaken. Sommige zijn makkelijk omkeerbaar, andere niet. Voordat er medicijnen tegen jeuk voorgeschreven worden, is het zinvol je af te vragen welk onderliggend mechanisme verantwoordelijk is voor de jeuk.
