Het ‘gouden uur’ in de kindergeneeskunde: de kunst van het pathofysiologische alfabet

Samenvatting

Het begrip ‘gouden uur’ is een nuttig concept bij het opvangen van zowel ernstig zieke als zwaargewonde kinderen, waarbij de precieze tijdsduur van een uur niet heilig is. Bij de beoordeling en initiële behandeling van zulke kinderen is het voor de kinderarts nuttig om eerst te denken in basale pathofysiologische termen, en daarna aan de exacte (differentiaal)diagnose.
