De verwekker van een groene nagel is meestal Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Een nagelkweek is weinig specifiek en gevoelig voor contaminatie.
Predisponerende factoren zijn onychomycose, trauma, psoriasis, kunstnagels, nagelbijten en hyperhidrose.
Lokale therapie is de beste behandeling.
