Samenvatting

De aandachtsdeficiëntie-/hyperactiviteitsstoornis (bekend onder het Engelse acroniem ADHD) kenmerkt zich door symptomen van extreme afleidbaarheid, hyperactiviteit en impulsiviteit (American Psychiatric Association, 2014). Deze symptomen hebben een nadelige impact op het dagelijks functioneren van jongeren, zowel thuis als op school. Ongeveer 5 procent van de kinderen en adolescenten voldoet voor het achttiende levensjaar aan de diagnostische criteria van deze psychiatrische stoornis.
