Gastro-intestinale motiliteit en manometrie

Samenvatting

Bij veel klachten en symptomen op maag-darmgebied is de gastro-intestinale motoriek gestoord. Dit kan het gevolg zijn van onderliggend lijden, maar ook kan een primaire motiliteitsstoornis aanwezig zijn. Verder kan verstoring van de motoriek iatrogeen zijn. Dit kan een tijdelijk fenomeen zijn, zoals versnelde intestinale motoriek tengevolge van antibioticagebruik, of blijvend, zoals na chirurgische correctie van een oesofagusatresie. Deze motiliteitsstoornissen kunnen op verschillende manieren worden onderzocht. Radiologie, isotopenonderzoek en manometrie zijn de meest toegepaste technieken. Manometrie is voor de meeste indicaties toepasbaar en levert kwantitatieve en goed reproduceerbare meetgegevens. Deze methode is zeer geschikt voor wetenschappelijk onderzoek, maar leent zich in beperktere mate ook goed voor de klinische praktijk. Voor de diagnose van sommige ziektebeelden is manometrie zelfs onontbeerlijk.
