Een ganglion is een fluctuerende, cysteuze zwelling in een gewrichtskapsel of een peesschede.
Met inspectie en palpatie is de diagnose vrijwel altijd zonder aanvullend onderzoek te stellen.
Een ganglion gaat in de helft van de gevallen spontaan in regressie.
Chirurgische verwijdering geeft een kleiner risico op recidief dan aspiratie.
