Samenvatting

Om tot succesvolle kwaliteitsverbetering te komen, is het belangrijk om op systematische wijze verbeteringen door te voeren. De hier voorgestelde aanpak van kwaliteitsverbetering wordt uitgebreid beschreven in het implementatieboek van Wensing en Grol (2023) [1]. Systematische kwaliteitsverbetering bestaat uit vier essentiële stappen. De eerste stap wordt besproken in dit hoofdstuk. De overige stappen worden in H. 7 besproken. Stap 1 gaat over het helder formuleren van wat ‘goede zorg’ precies inhoudt. Dit doen we aan de hand van kwaliteitsindicatoren. Er zijn verschillende typen kwaliteitsindicatoren die te vinden zijn in de literatuur of op websites; vaak moeten ze echter zelf ontwikkeld of aangepast worden. Vervolgens kan gemeten worden of deze ‘goede zorg’ ook daadwerkelijk wordt toegepast in de dagelijkse praktijk. In dit hoofdstuk wordt helder hoe dit gedaan wordt en waar in de praktijk op gelet moet worden.
