7. Evidence-based kwaliteit verbeteren

Samenvatting

Om tot succesvolle kwaliteitsverbetering te komen, is het belangrijk om stapsgewijs op geplande en systematische wijze verbeteringen door te voeren. In H. 6 is ingegaan op de eerste stap om tot kwaliteitsverbetering te komen, namelijk het formuleren van wat goede zorg precies inhoudt aan de hand van kwaliteitsindicatoren. In dit hoofdstuk wordt ingegaan op de vervolgstappen: stappen om een verbeterstrategie systematisch te ontwikkelen en te evalueren. Belangrijke voorwaarde bij het ontwikkelen van een effectieve verbeterstrategie is de afstemming van de verschillende onderdelen van de strategie op determinanten die bepalen of patiënten wel of niet de gewenste zorg ontvangen (stap 2). Met deze informatie wordt een passende verbeterstrategie gekozen (stap 3), die vervolgens wordt gepland, uitgevoerd, geëvalueerd en waar wenselijk opgeschaald (stap 4). In dit hoofdstuk wordt helder hoe dit gedaan kan worden en waar in de praktijk op gelet moet worden.
