Heden ten dage is de classificatie van de Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen (AO) de gouden standaard voor het classificeren van fracturen, wat essentieel is om eenduidige richtlijnen voor behandelingen te maken en verwarringen in de literatuur te voorkomen. Toch worden voor karakteristieke breuken vaak eponiemen gebruikt die allesbehalve classificerend zijn, maar een niet weg te denken plaats kennen in de dagelijkse kliniek. Wie waren de naamgevers van deze breuken? En wat heeft ervoor gezorgd dat hun naam tot deze faam heeft gereikt?
