Samenvatting

Coxitis fugax is een aandoening van het heupgewricht die vooral voorkomt bij kinderen van 2–12 jaar. Het is een zelflimiterende steriele goedaardige ontsteking van de synovia van het heupgewricht. Er zijn veel verschillende termen in omloop, waarvan transitory coxitis, transient synovitis, coxitis fugax en irritable hip de meest voorkomende zijn. Irritable hip wordt ook wel gebruikt voor pijn in de heup waarbij de oorzaak niet duidelijk kan worden vastgesteld.
