Het bijtfibroom is een niet-pijnlijke, stevige of zachte goedaardige verdikking van het bindweefsel in de mond.
Het bijtfibroom ontstaat vrijwel altijd door mechanische irritatie.
Het bijtfibroom is over het algemeen onschuldig.
In geval van twijfel zijn excisie en weefselonderzoek aangewezen.
