Kernpunten

Kenmerkend voor artrose van het CMC-I-gewricht zijn pijn en zwelling van de basis van de duim, gepaard gaande met krachtsvermindering en bewegingsbeperking.
De aandoening komt vooral voor bij oudere vrouwen.
Anamnese en lichamelijk onderzoek zijn meestal voldoende om de diagnose te stellen.
Conservatieve maatregelen (aanpassen activiteiten, NSAID’s, spalken) kunnen de klachten verminderen en de progressie van de artrose vertragen.
