Samenvatting

Kernpunten
  • Bij apathie is er sprake van verminderde doelgerichte activiteit in gedrag, emotie en sociale interactie.
  • Apathie komt veel voor in het kader van dementie, maar kan ook bestaan als losstaand syndroom.
  • Voor de diagnose is met name de heteroanamnese van belang.
  • De behandeling van apathie is gericht op het bieden van structuur, het geven van visuele of auditieve aanwijzingen en het zoeken van stimulerende activiteiten passend bij de patiënt.
