We meet Raphael Masschelein at the occasion of his retirement as Professor in Occupational Medicine at the Catholic University of Leuven. The day before this interview there was an international symposium on training and education in occupational medicine. In an academic session, later that day, there was a farewell celebration by the Leuven academic community, in which many speakers looked back upon the professional carrier of Raphael Masschelein. It was an impressive session with emotional moments.
