Samenvatting

Er wordt enorm veel wetenschappelijk onderzoek gedaan en elke dag wordt er een grote hoeveelheid nieuwe informatie geproduceerd. Deze nieuwe informatie wordt gepubliceerd in medische tijdschriften en is te vinden in medische databestanden zoals Medline. De hoeveelheid informatie is echter zo groot dat het voor de zorgprofessional onmogelijk is om op de hoogte te zijn en te blijven van de nieuwste inzichten (Mulrow, 1994). Het Medline-databestand bevat meer dan 12 miljoen citaten uit meer dan 4.600 internationale biomedische tijdschriften.
