186 Dikke enkels/idiopathisch oedeem

Samenvatting

Bij een toegenomen hoeveelheid vocht in de benen waardoor de normale enkelcontouren verstrijken, spreken we van ‘dikke enkels’. Het oedeem kan veroorzaakt zijn door een trauma (fractuur, enkeldistorsie, zweepslag) of door een infectie aan voet of onderbeen (erysipelas). Ook kan de hoeveelheid vocht zijn toegenomen als complicatie van een hart- en vaatziekte of door veneuze vaatafwijkingen in de benen.
