158 Pijnlijkeblaassyndroom/interstitiële cystitis

Samenvatting

Het pijnlijkeblaassyndroom, of interstitiële cystitis, is een blaasaandoening die gekenmerkt wordt door pijn onder in de buik die toeneemt bij blaasvulling (dus plassen verlicht de pijn).¹ De klachten waarmee de patiënt zich presenteert, zoals frequente, pijnlijke mictie, nycturie en soms (microscopische) hematurie, komen overeen met de klachten van een bacteriële cystitis. De diagnose wordt dan ook vaak pas na verloop van tijd gesteld omdat de patiënt bij herhaling met klachten komt die lijken op een klassieke blaasontsteking, terwijl bij onderzoek geen infectie kan worden aangetoond.
