Samenvatting

Er bestaat geen eenduidige definitie van zwangerschapsgerelateerde bekkengordelpijn.1 Het is een symptoomdiagnose, gebaseerd op pijn in de regio van een of beide sacro-iliacale gewrichten en/of de symfyse, die in de zwangerschap of in de kraamperiode ontstaat. Bekkengordelpijn wordt ook wel met de term ‘bekkeninstabiliteit’ aangeduid.2 Deze term suggereert dat de pijn veroorzaakt wordt door een vergrote beweeglijkheid in de bekkengewrichten.3-5
