Pijn en stress bij pasgeborenen

Samenvatting

Pijn en stress zijn van grote invloed op mortaliteit en morbiditeit van in het bijzonder zieke en premature pasgeborenen. Zowel tijdens de geboorte als bij zieke pasgeborenen in de periode erna treden pijnlijke en stressvolle momenten op. De hormonale, fysiologische en gedragsmatige parameters die leiden tot goede pijnmeting bij pasgeborenen worden besproken. Zowel korte- als langetermijneffecten op mortaliteit en morbiditeit komen aan bod en ten slotte worden maatregelen voorgesteld om pijn en stress te vermijden of in elk geval te bestrijden en te verminderen.
