Het simuleren van posttraumatische stresssymptomen: de Nederlandse versie van de Morel Emotional Numbing Test (ment)

Abstract

Tot voor kort leek de posttraumatische stressstoornis (ptss) een onaantastbare positie te hebben in het landschap van de psychiatrische diagnoses. Maar daar is nu grondig verandering in gekomen (McNally, 2006). Een Amerikaans overheidsrapport dat daarbij een belangrijke rol speelt, is dat van het Department of Veterans Affairs (2005). In dit rapport wordt een willekeurige steekproef van 2100 Vietnamveteranen met ptss beschreven. Allen hadden op grond van hun ptss-klachten recht op uiteenlopende compensatieregelingen. De militaire archiefstukken van deze veteranen werden doorgelicht en daarbij bleek dat zo'n 25% van hen onmogelijk een traumatische ervaring in Vietnam kon hebben opgedaan.
