Hospitals condemned for squalid staff rest areas

The UK has some of the worst staff rooms in Europe for health workers, according to a government adviser for the NHS. Shabby furniture, worn out carpets and overgrown plants are commonplace in staff areas and some nurses have nowhere to go at all, says Roger Ulrich, professor of architecture at Texas A&M University and a behavioural scientist.
