Due to a previously undetected programming error, the order in which participants adopted the three hand postures in Experiment 1 was not counterbalanced as stated on page 1387. Rather than dividing the 36 participants equally across the 6 possible block orders, three orders were assigned 6 participants each, two orders were assigned 7 participants each, and one order was assigned 4 participants.

We have re-analyzed our data based on several different random selections of 24 participants under the constraint that there was always an equal number of participants assigned to each block order. Results were entirely consistent with those reported in the published article. We also note that the main findings of Experiment 1 were also observed in Experiment 2 (which was counterbalanced properly). In addition, Murchison and Proctor (2015) have since reported a conceptual replication.

While the counterbalancing mistake does not place our findings in jeopardy, we sincerely regret the error.
