EEN STABILISATIEMETHODE VOOR VROEGKINDERLIJK CHRONISCH GETRAUMATISEERDE KINDEREN

Samenvatting

Vroegkinderlijk chronisch getraumatiseerde kinderen zijn niet ‘eenvoudig’ via EMDR of CGT te behandelen en kunnen of willen dikwijls niet over hun traumatische ervaringen praten. Vaak wordt geadviseerd het verleden te laten rusten en ‘geen slapende honden wakker te maken’. Door die slapende honden kunnen deze kinderen jarenlang onnodig met ernstige klachten blijven rondlopen. Wanneer deze kinderen eenmaal gemotiveerd zijn voor behandeling, is voorafgaand aan traumaverwerking vaak een stabilisatiefase nodig. Dit artikel beschrijft die stabilisatiefase. Deze is verdeeld in zes testen: veiligheid, dagelijks leven, hechting, emotieregulatie, zelfbeeld en notendop.
