Samenvatting

Door de recente stijging van de prevalentie van GHB-gebruik in Nederland en België, is er ook sprake van een toename van GHB-gerelateerde problemen in algemene ziekenhuizen (zoals intoxicaties en onthoudingssyndromen). In deze bijdrage bespreken wij de epidemiologie, diagnostiek en behandeling van GHB-intoxicaties en -onthouding in het algemeen ziekenhuis. Wij geven een overzicht van de literatuur en bespreken een praktijkvoorbeeld. Daarnaast geven wij op de praktijk gebaseerde aanbevelingen voor het stabiliseren van patiënten met klachten van GHB-onthouding en het GHB-onthoudingssyndroom.
