Samenvatting

Spondylitis ankylopoetica (SA) (of ziekte van Bechterew) is een chronische inflammatoire aandoening van het axiale en perifere skelet die zich meestal manifesteert door rugpijn en toenemende stijfheid van de wervelkolom en aantasting van de perifere gewrichten, alsook extra-articulaire manifestaties. Kenmerkend is dat de ziekte jonge volwassenen treft in de tweede of derde levensdecade.
