Samenvatting

De meest frequente infecties in de mondregio zijn cariës en parodontitis. Deze aandoeningen zijn geassocieerd met plaque. Voor parodontitis zijn we aangewezen op de voortdurende verwijdering van de bacteriële plaque. Ondanks uitgebreide motivatiecampagnes blijkt het niet haalbaar alle patiënten een afdoende mechanische plaquecontrole op te leggen.
