Abstract

Op 11 januari 2012 verscheen in verschillende kranten en via het ANP het volgende bericht: ‘Extra zuurstof in ambulance is schadelijk’. Zuurstof wordt in de acute zorg veel toegepast. Zowel hypoxie als hyperoxie wordt geassocieerd met een verhoogde mortaliteit. Moet je patiënten direct zuurstof geven of juist niet? Maken we ze dood of redden we juist levens met zuurstof? Kortom, hier is veel onrust over in de ambulancewereld.
