Samenvatting

Mollusca contagiosa, in de volksmond ook wel ‘waterwratjes’ genoemd, zijn een in de kinderleeftijd veel voorkomend verschijnsel. De veroorzaker is het papova-virus. Infectie treedt op via contact met reeds besmette personen of met gecontamineerde objecten, bijvoorbeeld gymnastiekzalen, wc-brillen en zwembaden. De incubatieperiode is 14 dagen tot 6 maanden.
