Samenvatting

Dempende hardloopschoenen zouden de grondreactiekrachten en tevens het blessurerisico verminderen. De studie die we in dit artikel samenvatten, vertalen en bespreken, heeft als primair doel het effect van demping op de tijd, omvang en frequentie van piekkrachten te onderzoeken. Het secundaire doel is nagaan of deze piekkrachten prospectief geassocieerd zijn met het risico op blessures. Bij de deelnemers die op zachte schoenen liepen, was niet alleen de piekkracht lager, maar was ook de tijd tot de piekkracht optrad langer, en was de landingssnelheid lager dan bij wie op harde schoenen liep. Deze bevindingen kunnen het beschermende effect van zachtere hardloopschoenen verklaren. Daarnaast is een lager blessurerisico aangetroffen bij dempende schoenen in vergelijking met hardere schoenen. In dit onderzoek wordt verder niet ingegaan op het type blessure.
