Tijdens een hartstilstand kan het voorkomen dat de bloedvoorziening naar de hersenen onderbroken wordt. Reanimatie kan het hart, en daarmee de bloedtoevoer naar het brein, weer op gang brengen. Zelfs een kortdurende onderbreking kan echter negatieve gevolgen hebben voor het brein, wat zich kan uiten in cognitieve problemen. Een snelle aanvang van reanimatie na een hartaanval kan de prognose dan ook ten goede komen. Liesbeth Boyce en Paulien Goossens schrijven over de mogelijkheid tot en het belang van cognitieve revalidatie na reanimatie. Zij gaan daarbij onder andere in op de incidentie van cognitieve problemen na reanimatie, huidige richtlijnen omtrent revalidatie en de meerwaarde van het screenen van cognitieve problemen bij deze patiëntgroep. …
