Soms worden patiënten uitgenodigd om mee te doen aan een wetenschappelijk onderzoek, en soms vragen patiënten daarover advies aan hun huisarts. De huisarts legt dan, als het goed is, geduldig uit dat het erg moeilijk te zeggen is of iemand moet meedoen of niet – het probleem is immers dat het wetenschappelijk onderzoek, als het ook goed is, juist is bedoeld om te kijken of de ene behandeling beter is dan de andere. Als daarover al duidelijkheid bestond, zou het onderzoek niet worden gedaan. …
