Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk worden verschillende verklaringsmodellen en werkingsmechanismen beschreven die een rol spelen bij de verwerking van schokkende gebeurtenissen. Sommige van deze modellen worden specifiek genoemd bij bepaalde technieken, zoals de werkgeheugenhypothese bij EMDR, falsificeren van de angstige verwachting bij IE en inpassen van nieuwe ‘Gezonde-Volwassene’-informatie bij ImRs. Een groot deel van de hier besproken werkingsmechanismen speelt in meer of mindere mate een rol bij veel verwerkingstechnieken. In H. 7‒10 worden de verwerkingstechnieken beschreven, waarbij gerefereerd wordt aan de in dit hoofdstuk beschreven werkingsmechanismen.
