Weerstand in de psychoanalyse

Een empirisch begripsonderzoek onder Nederlandse psychoanalytici

Samenvatting

In een empirisch begripsonderzoek is onderzocht op welke wijze (Nederlandse) praktiserende analytici het begrip ‘weerstand’ hanteren. Drie en vijftig analytici leverden klinische fragmenten van analyse-uren (vignetten) met voorbeelden van weerstand. Drie panels van ervaren analytici beoordeelden de vignetten aan de hand van onder meer een lijst met kenmerken van weerstand. Na statistische bewerking en een factoranalyse werden in het verschijnsel ‘weerstand’ drie aspecten van weerstandskenmerken onderscheiden. Ze vertonen een belangrijke overlap, maar hebben ook een unieke variantie. Ervaren analytici interpreteerden de aspecten als weerstand tegen (A) bereidheid tot zelfonderzoek; (B) openstaan voor de analytische werkrelatie; en (C) openstaan voor bevrijdende invallen. Na klinische illustratie van deze drie aspecten wordt de theoretische en praktische relevantie van het onderzoek besproken.
