Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk wil ik de lezer laten zien hoe empathie past binnen een arts-patiëntconsult. Tevens beschrijf ik wetenschappelijk aangetoonde effecten van empathie, de geschiedenis van empathie en de meest voorkomende barrières voor empathisch gedrag. Ik sluit dit hoofdstuk af met een overzicht van neurofysiologische en endocrinologische aspecten van empathie.

De professionele habitus komt er door tot stand en gezagsverhoudingen spelen een rol.
