Vroegtijdige Interventie Prematuren (vip)

Effectmeting na vijf tot tien jaar op schoolresultaten en psychische en gedragsproblemen

Samenvatting

Prematuur geboren kinderen krijgen vaker psychische en gedragsproblemen dan op tijd geboren kinderen. Vroege psychosociale interventies worden geadviseerd, maar de schaarse onderzoeksresultaten over effecten zijn niet eenduidig. Vooral meer langetermijnonderzoek is nodig. In dit retrospectieve ‘case-control’ onderzoek is de Vroegtijdige Interventie Prematuren (vip) onderzocht op effecten. Prematuur en met een laag geboortegewicht geboren kinderen van de interventiegroep (n = 69) zijn op vijf- tot tienjarige leeftijd met een controlegroep (n = 69) vergeleken op schoolresultaten en op psychische en gedragsproblemen (cbcl). Er werd geen verschil gevonden. Een ‘plafond-effect’ is uitgesloten en de resultaten pleiten dus niet voor langetermijneffecten.
