Abstract

Technische ontwikkelingen maken een nieuwe vorm van exposure therapie mogelijk: Exposure in een virtuele omgeving: Virtual Reality Exposure Therapie (VRET). Bij VRET worden computerbeelden, body tracking devices, visuele displays en andere sensorische inputmiddelen gecombineerd in een door computers gegenereerde virtuele omgeving waarin de patiënt aan zijn angsten blootgesteld wordt. In deze bijdrage gaan we in op de effectiviteit van VRET bij verschillende angststoornissen, de onderliggende therapeutische processen en de implementatie in de klinische praktijk.
