Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk wordt ingegaan op de veiligheid van patiënten en ziekenhuismedewerkers. Hun rechten zijn vastgelegd in de WGBO. Belangrijke onderwerpen in dit hoofdstuk zijn de arbeidsomstandigheden (arbo) en prikaccidenten, maar ook de stopmomenten voor controle en registratie. Onder veilig werken valt ook hygiënisch werken. Het overdragen van micro-organismen aan patiënten moet zo veel mogelijk worden voorkomen (infectiepreventie) om ziekenhuisinfecties tegen te gaan. Naast hygiëne spelen isolatievormen hierbij een belangrijke rol. Ten slotte is er aandacht voor de communicatie binnen de zorg en voor het teamfunctioneren.
