Van X‑colon naar CT-colonografie, de historie en ontwikkelingen in de radiologie

Samenvatting

Met de ontdekking van maligniteiten zoals darmkanker, de inzichten hoe deze ontstaan en met de toegenomen behandelmogelijkheden, nam ook de behoefte toe aan (vroege) opsporing hiervan met behulp van beeldvorming. Het begon iets meer dan een eeuw geleden met het statisch afbeelden van een met contrast gevuld colon en heeft zich ontwikkeld tot computerbeoordeling in driedimensionale (3D-)beelden. In deze bijdrage wordt de radiologische beeldvorming van het colon beschreven vanaf rond 1900 tot heden.
