Samenvatting

Dit hoofdstuk behandelt alle facetten van validiteit van diagnostische tests waar een fysiotherapeut mee te maken kan krijgen wanneer hij/zij een wetenschappelijk artikel leest of in de literatuur op zoek gaat naar een goede diagnostische test om een klinisch probleem te benaderen. Verschillende vormen van validiteit worden uitgelegd en begrippen als sensitiviteit en voorspellende waarden komen aan bod. Daarnaast worden ook begrippen als de likelihood ratio, diagnostische odds ratio en ROC-curves (receiver operator curves) uitgelegd, ook al hebben die meer waarde voor het wetenschappelijk onderzoek dan voor de dagelijkse klinische praktijk.
